One consequence of the company's strategy of specialisation is significant emphasis on research and development. Borregaard ChemCell is continuing these efforts with a view to increasing the proportion of value-added specialty cellulose qualities in its product range and in capitalise on the investment that has been made in the cellulose plants.

During the last 15 years the development of derivative pulp grades has been an activity of high priority. Parts of our successful development has been carried out in close co-operation between our Technical Service Department and key customers. Close customer contact  has contributed to Borregaard ChemCell's strong position in selected niches.

As a supplement to its own activities, Borregaard ChemCell is working in close co-operation with external institutes in Europe.
